The Shape of Blackness : Artists

Michon Sanders

My work is driven by the desire to remember those moments in between, where we as a people are just existing. Not trying to be, but actually being.

Michon Sanders was born in Michigan, but raised in the southern city of Tallahassee, Florida, an upbringing that deeply influences her artmaking. After not creating art professionally or personally for over two decades, Sanders decided to fulfill a childhood dream of attending art school, beginning her journey at Berkeley City College, and continuing at the California College of the Arts, where she is currently pursuing a BFA in Painting and Drawing.
