ATTENTION: Artists & Creatives — The PPP (forgivable) loan is open again and Community Bank Of The Bay is here to ensure that artists and creatives get access to these funds. It is also available for those who received a loan, exhausted the funds and experienced >25% drop in income from 2019.

If you are an artist, musician, gig worker, self-employed, 1099 freelancer...you are eligible and should absolutely apply.

This is not a traditional merit based loan, it's all about your taxable income in 2019. If you "paid yourself" in this manner, PPP is designed for you so you can continue to pay yourself!

Our partners at @bankcbb are dedicated to helping the small businesses and creative communities of the Bay Area navigate this process.

Sign up at http://bankCBB.com/ppp to receive the application details! You don't have be a current member to apply!

EXECUTIVE OF THE YEAR: Oakstop’s Trevor Parham has found ways to invest in the future even in a challenging year. Link in bio.

Parham, an entrepreneur who grew up in Oakland, said he was faced with two decisions early on in the pandemic: stew in the fear of failure, or invest in the future. He chose the latter.

Investing in the future also meant investing in his community. He started donating co-working and event space to Meals on Wheels to help feed the elderly, and to Shield The Bay an organization that created personal protective equipment.

And not long after the first wave of the Black Lives Matter demonstrations following the June police killing of George Floyd, Parham co-founded the @blackbusinessfund, a relief fund to support Black businesses. For Parham, the best way to change the power dynamics that result in injustice is to own a business.

“Being a Black business owner is essentially a revolutionary act,” Parham said. “It’s an act of empowering and bringing economics into your community, so we can have more of a powerful position to prevent things like (the killing of Floyd) from continuing to happen.”

★★ reviews ★★

Excellent customer service and answers every call and question! Signing up was easy and quick. I was able to speak to with Shane who did an amazing job of explaining my membership, how to access my mail, etc. THIS is how you operate a business. Definitely a great decision.

Coworking Member

The space is awesome and very unique. It blends the artist performance space and tech startup culture with Oakland’s edginess and beauty.

You get the professionalism and capacity to get high level work done but without the pretentiousness and sterileness of a traditional tech work setting. Cost was also pretty reasonable and probably much cheaper than comparable spaces.

Got to play cello here during one of their art exhibits. Wonderful space they have and outstanding group of people organizing it! I had a blast playing in their space and meeting and talking with the people there.
