TUPAC SHAKUR WAY!!

Such a beautiful and blessed day uniting the Oakland community around Tupac’s legacy and history in Oakland.

Thank you to the Shakur family and everyone else who spoke and shared their Tupac stories with us.

@kqedarts The City of Oakland has officially honored Tupac Shakur, one of the most important figures in hip-hop history, with his own street. “Tupac Shakur Way” was unveiled today near Lake Merritt along a portion of MacArthur Boulevard, where the superstar lived in the early 1990s.

In attendance were Shakur’s siblings Mopreme (@mopremeshakur) and Sekyiwa (@wildseed13), Bay Area icons like E-40 (@e40), MC Hammer (@mchammer), Spice 1 (@therealspiceone), Money B (@moneyb69), Richie Rich (@tharealrichierich), B-Legit (@blegit72), Davey D (@mrdaveyd) and Sway Calloway (@realsway), as well as fans of the late artist. Money B, who recorded and performed alongside Shakur in Digital Underground, said the apartment on MacArthur was “the first set of keys Tupac ever had to anything.
